Case Analysis -Ford Motor Co.

Analyze a case using the Eight Steps to Sound Decision Making found in Chapter 2 of the textbook. CASE: Read the case, Pinto Fires, on pages 63-67 of your textbook. Please don’t reference any other source than the case provided and the eight steps to ethical decision making found in your textbook. Pretend you are back in 1973 and to apply the Eight-Step Model for your case analysis. You work for Ford Motor Co. as the recall coordinator. Field reports are coming in about rear-end collisions, fires, and fatalities, and you are responsible for deciding whether to recall the automobile. As recall coordinator, you know the fervency with which Lee Iacocca got this car to market. Also keep in mind that this is 1973, and safety isn’t as big of a concern as it is today. REMINDER: You need to make a decision using the eight steps. You are not analyzing a decision that has already been made; you are the one making the decision. You are pretending it is 1973 and a decision hasn’t been made. You will analyze what you know from the case and make your decision based on that. DO NOT tell me the decision you made in the introduction before going through the steps. This is an individual case analysis where you apply the Eight-Step Model described in Chapter 2 on pages 51-58. Good luck! The Case Analysis Template can be found in the uploaded documents.
