Assignment: Complete both a set of business management plans and a Microsoft Project for a software development project
Scenario:
- Base the assignment on a fictional business that has its own in-house development staff
- The project should be sufficiently large/complex so that it will take between 9-12 months to complete
- Your choice on the numbers/types of employees… but I’m expecting around a dozen or so
- Use the traditional SDLC model for development… so most likely 6 top-level summary tasks
- The vast majority of the costs should be labor, but should contain some non-labor costs
Requirements: There are two parts:
Part 1 – Create a single Word document to cover the following:
- Do NOT use the same scenario as Assignment 6 (This would confuse the plagiarism checker)
- The Project Charter
- A Cost Management Plan
- A Quality Management Plan
- A Human Resources Management Plan
- A Communications Management Plan
- A Risk Management Plan
- Paraphrase, do not copy! No more than 35% of the content can be copied
Note: I’m expecting this part of the assignment to be about 10-15 single-spaced pages total
Part 2 – The Microsoft Project document
- Multiple levels of Work Breakdown Structures
- Resource table by employee name and some material
- Full cost per WBS
- Full work schedule per WBS (without over-allocating employees)
- Create a Tracking Gantt with some schedule slippage and task completion
- Create a Earned Value Management report with a report date about 1/2 way through the project
